Here's what we were working with on this Flemington, NJ property - an old shed that needed to come down, overgrown plants taking over the yard, and no real usable outdoor structure to speak of. A lot of homeowners sit on projects like this for years because it feels like too much to tackle at once. We handle all of it in one shot.
First thing we did was remove the old shed and haul everything out. Then we cleared the old plantings and graded the area. Getting the ground prep right is the part most people underestimate - if you skip it, everything built on top of it pays the price later.
Once the site was cleared and graded, we built out a solid gravel pad framed with pressure-treated lumber. The frame keeps the gravel locked in place and gives the whole pad clean, defined edges. It's a hardscaping detail that actually matters - both for durability and for how the finished product looks sitting in the yard.
A gravel pad done right gives you a stable, well-drained base whether you're setting a new shed, a generator, outdoor equipment, or just want a low-maintenance hardscape feature. No shifting, no pooling water, no mess. And with the surrounding area cleared out, this yard has room to actually breathe now.
This is a job that's still in progress, and there's more coming. We're handling both the hardscaping and landscaping sides of this property, so stay tuned for updates as this one develops.
